ABOUT MACUIL
Macuil is the wood of the rosa morada, a tropical tree known for its pink blossoms.
It is medium in weight, light in tone and fine in grain. It machines precisely and takes finishes well, so we use it for doors and windows, furniture and closets, and in projects that want a bright wood rather than a dark tone.
On the coast we have used it for sliding windows, doors and furniture, as at El Guayacán in Zipolite. In the city, for closets, tables and chairs, as at Casa Antonieta in Oaxaca.
