WINDOWS AND SCREENS / SLIDING WINDOWS
Opening without a leaf in the way.
A sliding window opens by gliding one leaf in front of another, so it takes no space inside or out. It is the natural choice for wide openings and for places where a swinging leaf would be in the way, such as terraces, hallways or dining rooms.
At El Guayacán, bungalows in Zipolite with Permacasco, we made the sliding windows, doors and furniture in macuil, in one of the workshop’s largest door-and-window projects. We also made sliding windows for Criollo restaurant in Oaxaca.
VARIANTS

One leaf slides in front of the other, opening half the opening.
- 02

For wide openings, with leaves that stack to one side.
- 03
With fixed lights
Sliding leaves combined with fixed panes for large glazing.
- 04
Lift-and-slide
The leaf lifts to slide and lowers to seal; for large openings and exposed façades.
- 05
With insect screen or wood screen
A mesh or slatted leaf running on its own track.
HOW WE MAKE THEM
Smooth to slide, tight against water.
In a sliding window, the bottom track gets the most care.
- Track and rollers sized for the weight of each leaf.
- Drainage in the bottom track so rainwater runs out instead of pooling.
- Overlaps and brush seals between leaves to reduce air and dust.
- Stable wood so the leaves keep sliding as humidity changes.
- Exterior finish, with more frequent maintenance on the coast.
- Single, double or triple glazing, with seals around the whole leaf.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Wood sliding windows
How much does a wood sliding window cost?
As a reference, a solid wood window runs MXN 28,000 to 95,000 depending on size and system, before VAT and freight. Large sliding glazing can go above that.
Standard sliding or lift-and-slide?
A standard slider is simpler and less expensive. A lift-and-slide lowers the leaf onto its seals when closed, so it seals better against air and water and moves larger, heavier leaves. For exposed façades or very large openings, lift-and-slide is the better choice.
Do they work at the beach?
Yes. The sliding windows at El Guayacán in Zipolite are macuil, and we continue to maintain them. On the coast we take care of track drainage, hardware and finish.
Can they be repaired?
Yes. Rollers, seals and finish can be replaced or renewed without replacing the window. We maintain the doors and windows we make.
Can it have double or triple glazing?
Yes. We design the leaf section for single, double or triple glazing; double and triple glazing insulate from cold, heat and noise and reduce condensation.
